Module 5

What artworks made an impression on me?
The first one was the Dan Flavin untitled. It did so because the nature of the piece almost demands attention with its light display and ability to distort the viewers visual reality.
The second was Convex, Concave| Dimensional by Richard Joseph Anuszkiewicz. This made an impression on me because of it's ability to make the viewer become mesmerized while looking at this piece. The way the texture gradient works to make an optical illusion certainly makes a lasting impression on any viewer.
What artworks do you feel a connection with?
The two artworks I felt a connection with were the Piet Mondrian and the Jackson Pollock. I grouped these together because I felt connected with them for the same reason, the relevance and impact that these artists had on the world of art and being able to physically see their art was special and makes me feel connected with those famous artists while I'm viewing their art.
What artworks would I like to know more about?
The first was Jim Hodges' look and see, the nature of this piece is very interactive and profound, in the sense of size and space, that I would like to know the inspiration behind this piece.
The second is Nana by Niki de Saint Phalle because in all honestly I thought the piece was, for a lack of a better term, ugly. The piece is so aesthetically displeasing, in my opinion, that I would like to know what the piece is based on and what the intentions of the artist was, if they wanted the piece to being "ugly" to its viewers.

  1. I really enjoyed viewing your time at the art gallery. Some of the pieces I viewed left me with impressions on wanting to learn more about the piece. For example the Untitled piece by Dan Flavin as you mentioned, this piece of art work almost demands for center of attention. I wanted to know more about the art work and the idea behind it. I also liked how you group together two artworks and made a comparison on how they affect you. .
