What artworks made an impression on me? The first one was the Dan Flavin untitled. It did so because the nature of the piece almost demands attention with its light display and ability to distort the viewers visual reality. The second was Convex, Concave| Dimensional by Richard Joseph Anuszkiewicz. This made an impression on me because of it's ability to make the viewer become mesmerized while looking at this piece. The way the texture gradient works to make an optical illusion certainly makes a lasting impression on any viewer.  What artworks do you feel a connection with? The two artworks I felt a connection with were the Piet Mondrian and the Jackson Pollock. I grouped these together because I felt connected with them for the same reason, the relevance and impact that these artists had on the world of art and being able to physically see their art was special and makes me feel connected with those famous artists while I'm viewing their art.  What artworks would I like ...

Module 3

Color certainly has affect on emotion, color speaks the emotion of a piece without using any words. Color can invoke feelings of happiness, fear,  anger, intimacy, seclusion, to just name a few. What fascinates me about color is that the color on all the objects you see is the color not be absorbed by that color. For instance, a blue shirt is absorbing all the colors of the ROYGBIV scale except blue, thats why we see it! In the color video what had the most impact on me was how painters back hundreds of years ago got their colors to paint with. And how the more rare colors were the ones featured in the paintings, like the virgin Mary's rich blue cloak. In the feelings video what was interesting is how they used space and color as a team to bring certain feelings to the viewer.

Module 2

In the video "Philosophy of the Arts" I thought it was very interesting learning all the different theories of aesthetics presented by these philosophers. Overall how that even though beauty and aesthetic are connected, they are different. In the CARTA video I enjoyed the discussion on how our brains are wired to interpret non-verbal things such as art. The CNN article was also very interesting on how are brains are evolved to see faces and people in artwork. I felt that Francis Hutcheson's theory on aesthetic is the most important. His era was the 1700's and he developed the idea that  I feel Francis   Hutcheson's  theory on   aesthetics  is the most important. That the human being has a sense of beauty and   harmony, that the perception of beauty and harmony is mediated by the external senses to an internal sense that registers the   phenomenon  of beauty. The videos and articles relate to the text because they all really focus on the individual...

Week one

To my satisfaction, I already have a non-buff state gmail that I used for this. Setting up the blog was fairly easy, took no more than 5 minutes. I expect to learn how to properly analyze and react to art in the class. I have already taken an online course before this so I have basically the same feelings and expectations for this course as I did for the last one. The first thing I believe that most applies to me from the videos is saying something important 5-10 times out loud or in your head for the information to stick. I also agreed with that in order to be successful you have to overcome failure and setbacks in life. The third thing that most applies to me is that also to be successful you need a lot of practice and determination.
